It seems all but certain that Ottawa Electric customers will see a 10% rate hike starting early next year. During the Ottawa City Commission Study Session, Assistant Finance Director Laurel Gimzo gave an example of how much electric bills would increase:
City Attorney Blaine Finch advised the City Commission that it actually didn’t have to take action on a new hike because a 10% hike was included in a resolution passed last year that raised rates early in 2020. In effect, last year’s resolution called for two automatic rate hikes.
