The Ottawa Police Department has received over $352,000 in Grant money this year, including a recent $19,000 to supplement a Grant from the Homeland Security Council to upgrade the Star Team. Chief Adam Weingartner says it involves masks that have a duel purpose:
A Homeland Security Grant originally allowed the purchase of a Response Vehicle and Tactical Equipment to bring Ottawa’s Star Team up to a Level 3 Swat Team. They were one of only three teams designated for the Grant.
