Governor Laura Kelly announced that nearly 2,000 Kansas Small Businesses affected by the COVID 19 pandemic will receive a share of $37.5 million in Small Business Working Capital Grants. Kansas businesses with fewer than 500 employees were eligible to apply for the Grant Funding, made available by Kelly’s Strengthening People and Revitalizing Kansas, or “SPARK” Task Force through the Federal Cares Act. Grant funds can be used to pay Working Capital Expenses, such as payroll, insurance, rent, mortgage payments, utilities, inventory and more.
Several businesses in Anderson County received the funding. Beckman Motors, Gen-Con Manufacturing, Thunder Country Outdoors and Westrock Solutions, LLC all received $20,000 and Troyer’s Prairie Gold received $25,000.
Secretary of Commerce, David Toland, says small businesses are the backbone of the Kansas economy and keep communities strong and vibrant and his agency is always ready to assist businesses across Kansas, pandemic or not.
