OTTAWA — A bank account for the family of 29-year-old Jason Price has been set up at the Bank of the West in Ottawa. Family and friends have been organizing fundraisers to help pay his funeral expenses and for his family, which includes wife Amber and four daughters. Price was killed in the three-vehicle traffic accident near Princeton this weekend. He was a severe diabetic and his condition may have contributed to the accident, said Courtney McMahon, his soon-to-be sister-in-law. Price’s death is part of a series of catastrophes for his family. Their house burned down late last year and his infant daughter was born last year with a rare kidney disease, said Amber Price. They had just bought on a house on Richmond which he was working on the day he was killed. He was laid off earlier this year and lost his life insurance, she said. The insurance covering his vehicle covers $2,000 for funeral expenses but she said that the family must come up with another $3,000 by Thursday. Lori Hedges said fund-raising concert will be at Drivers Saturday night and organizers are trying to organize a raffle, too. She says raffle items are needed. The accident injured eight other people. The last accident victim, Jeff Gardner of Louisburg, has been discharged from Overland Park Regional Medical Center. To donate items for a raffle or cash, contact Hedges at (785) 248-3458 or 242-9652 or e-mail [email protected] or Courtney McMahon at 418-8631.
