The Ottawa Police Department is encouraging everyone to be extra cautious on the roads this evening. There is double trouble, with the threat of winter weather and New Year revelers. They warn that the New Year period outranks most other holidays in the number of crashes in which at least one of the drivers is impaired in some way. These drivers not only endanger themselves, but also, all the innocent, sober people on the road.
Sargent Casey Gilmore of the Ottawa Police Department says if you are going to be drinking any at all, don’t even consider driving. He added to not let your pride endanger the lives of innocent people. On average, across Kansas , three persons are injured every day and one person is killed every three days in alcohol, and other drug related crashes. People in such crashes are over 2 1/2 times more likely to be injured or killed, than those involved in crashes where alcohol or other drugs were not a factor.
