GARNETT — The Garnett City Commission appointed members to the new Garnett Community Foundation Advisory Board. Members are former Garnett mayor Jim Shmidl, who will be chairman, Kenny Jarett, Stacy Holloran, Val Katzer and Angie Rues. The city formed the foundation to raise donations for the new community recreation center, at the former National Guard armory; and for other city projects. Like the Franklin County Community Foundation, the Garnett Community Foundation will have the Greater Kansas City Foundation administer the funds.
