TOPEKA — The National Weather Service office in Topeka says there’s a good possibility that the Ottawa area could see unusually severe storms that could spawn tornadoes, golf-ball sized hail and severe winds of 70 miles an hour or more. The weather service’s Chad Omitt said the conditions developing this afternoon are likely to create powerful clusters of storms especially southeast of I-35. He said the heaviest weather could develop over east central Kansas after 7 this evening and in the Ottawa area between 6 and 9.
