LOUISBURG — Five people were injured early Monday morning when a pickup flipped west of Louisburg. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Joseph Wherley, 22, Olathe; was driving a pickup south on Spring Valley Road and drove through a stop sign at K-68 and his truck hit a guard rail, jumped over a culvert, hit an embankment head-on and flipped. Troopers said none of the people in the truck were wearing seatbelts and all were injured. Wherley was thrown out of the truck. He was taken by helicopter to Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City. Jason Ruff, 31, and Logan Ruff, 22, both of Overland Park; were trapped in the truck and had to be cut out and taken by helicopter to the University of Kansas Medical Center. Casey Ruff, 21, and Trevor Backous, 21, both of Overland Park; were both thrown out and taken by ambulance to Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
