GARNETT — Last August, only one driver struck a deer in Anderson County. But this August, at least five car-deer accidents have been reported. Sheriff Scot Brownrigg told the Anderson County Review that he doesn’t know why there’s such a difference. However, he said that typically, this is the season when drivers should keep an eye out for deer on roads. This is the time that deer enter the mating season and when they widen their foraging range as they build up fat reserves for winter. November is the peak month for car-deer accidents. And he said that if a driver sees one deer, it’s likely there will be more.
