TOPEKA — The Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s deputy health director Richard Morrissey will receive the Samuel Crumbine Medal from the Kansas Public Health Association this afternoon. The Crumbine Medal is a nationally-known award given annually to someone who has made major improvements to the public’s health in Kansas. The Crumbine Medal is named for an early-day state health director who was a national leader in public health and the environment. Morrissey’s boss, KDHE secretary Rod Bremby will receive the group’s President’s Award.
