A bicycle ride by law enforcement officers to commemorate the fallen, is to get underway today. As the officers travel to the Law Enforcement Memorial in Topeka, one stop along the way will honor Franklin County Deputy Sam Smith. Sheriff Jeff Richards says his Department will be involved:
Sam will be honored at a stop at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office at about 12:15 this afternoon. Richards brother, an Overland Park officer, will deliver that dedication to Smith. Deputy Sam Smith was killed in a fatal car crash in the Summer of 2010 while responding to an emergency call.
