WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate has passed a bill authored by Kansas senators Pat Roberts and Sam Brownback requiring the minting of coins honoring the five U.S. Army five-star generals. The coins are designed to honor the Army’s 132-year-old Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, they said. The coins will include $5 coins, dollar coins and half-dollars. The five-star generals are George C. Marshall, Douglas MacArthur, Dwight Eisenhower, Henry “Hap” Arnold, and Omar Bradley. A surcharge will be applied to each coin, with proceeds to the command and general staff college foundation — $35 for each $5 gold coin, $10 for each silver dollar coin, and $5 for each half-dollar clad coin.
