OTTAWA — Franklin County commissioners said they’ll likely abandon the historic Tauy Creek bridge on Nebraska Terrace northeast of Ottawa. County administrator Lisa Johnson said there will be a public hearing on Oct. 20. Area landowners are being notified. The bridge is on the National Register of Historic Places but has been closed for several years. The bridge deck was severely damaged when vandals set fire to the wooden planking. Johnson said because so few people live in the area, repairing and reopening the bridge isn’t worth the cost.
