LAWRENCE — Kansas Public Radio will be off the air briefly while crews paint the top of the station’s 700-foot main transmitter tower in Lawrence. Kansas University said the 100,000-watt transmitter will be turned off while painters work at the top of the tower. Painters started painting the tower this week but the station will still broadcast while work is under way on other areas of the tower. During the over-the-air outage, KPR will broadcast music and news on the KPR Website, kpr.ku.edu.
