GARNETT – A 66-year-old Garnett man finished the first half of a 30-day jail sentence for license plate theft this week. The Anderson County Review reports it’s one of a series of theft charges in four counties facing Herbert Robert “Bob” Hayden. Hayden was accused last year of stealing various items, including trailers, boats and a camper from Anderson, Coffey, Osage and Shawnee counties. He pleaded guilty to the license plate theft charge in Anderson County and was sentenced to jail time. He’ll return to jail Oct. 17 and finish the rest of the sentence. Hayden had reached plea deals in at least one other county but did not have to serve jail time. Hayden did not have a criminal record previously.
