Last week the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department announced they had cracked a 40 year old Cold Case and now the family of Tawnya Knight is hoping hers is next. Fifteen year old Tawnya Knight, from Spring Hill, was last seen alive, with friends, the night before she was reported missing. Her skeletonized remains were found in a field in Spring Hill, six months later, on June 7, 1997. Her mom, Lori Aubry Knight, a 1977 graduate of Ottawa High School, says the case stayed cold for years until they hired a private investigator, about a year and a half ago:
The same detectives that broke the case last week, are working on Tawnya’s. If you know anything about the murder of Tawnya Knight in 1997, please call the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.
