The Franklin County Construction and Demolition Landfill has been a licensed landfill since 1976. It’s one of the few of its kind in the area. As you would imagine, it sees a lot of traffic, but particularly the past few year, and they’re running out of room. Instead of expanding outward, Lee says the plan is to expand upward. Much of the landfill is below ground level. A recent study suggested that if compacted tighter, it could go quite a bit higher and be in used for several more decades.
