Have you ever opened your car door on a hot day and were amazed by how hot it is inside the car? Thank about being in the car, strapped into a car seat and not being able to get out. With the heat building this week, the likelihood of a child dying, after being left in a car accidentally, rises dramatically. Don’t think it could happen to you? Kid in Cars founder Amber Rollins says, think again:

Rollins says to put something in the front seat reminding you your child is in the back; a stuffed animal or their favorite toy, then put it in the car seat when you take the child out. Over 1,000 kids have died in hot cars since 1990, including one in Lawrence just last year.

With the extreme heat in the area today, and all Summer, please be extra aware and don’t let a tragedy happen to you.
