The word is out that the City of Ottawa has purchased the Ottawa Country Club. City Commissioners and the stakeholders in the club have come to an agreement that the golf course and swimming pools should be in City hands as a added benefit for those moving to the city. Commissioner Mike Skidmore says he was impressed with the participation at the meeting with stakeholders:
The total purchase price was $288,000. The course is leased to the Great Life Affiliate owned by Mike and Mark Mallory, until March of 20236. They have the legal right to continue to operate the course under their lease until the end of the lease term.
City Manager, Richard Nienstedt, says they are working on a grant from the Kansas Wildlife and Parks that will be submitted to help with the purchase.
