The Kansas Department of Transportation announced approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects. One of those right here in Franklin County. U.S. 59 from the I-35 junction, north to the Franklin/Douglas County line will receive an overlay. Bettis Asphalt from Topeka will do the work.

Anderson County on U.S. 59 from West 4th Avenue to K-31, or West Park Road in Garnett will receive pavement reconstruction. Bettis will also complete that project.

In Douglas County, Baldwin City to be specific, from Elm Street to the historic Santa Fe Depot on High Street, within the Midland right-of-way in Baldwin, pedestrian and bike paths will be constructed, with Bettis handling that project also. No word on when these projects will begin.
