The Franklin County Farm Bureau and its members were recognized for their hard work and dedication to agriculture at the Kansas Farm Bureau’s 14th Annual Meeting recently. Kenneth Campbell received a Friend of Agriculture Award for his tireless work to advocate for agriculture as a board member and President of the Franklin County Farm Bureau. Campbell has worked with the local Food Policy Council to raise money to help those in need while also connecting with local farmers markets to provide education to area consumers.
Lacey and Mark Wray were honored as one of 10 Farm Families of the Year. The Wrays operate Wray Cattle & Grain LLC. The couple has diversified their operation with a variety of crops on 2,000 tillable acres and raise a diversified cattle herd. Their herd contains 275 cows and nine bulls, and the couple manages 650 head of stockers in the summer for another local livestock producer. Mark manages Superior Ag services alongside two partners, to provide producers with seed, crop protection and agronomic services. Lacey helps the farm operate by paying bills and performing bookkeeping. The Wrays say they are true believers in Farm Bureau because of the opportunities they’ve been provided through the organization.
