GARNETT — The Anderson County real estate market is slowly recovering after the industry was devastated several years ago by a bad economy and the Wall Street mortgage meltdown. The Anderson County Review reported that spring and summer tend to be the prime selling time for real estate in Anderson County. Area real estate agents said the next few months will show how strong the recovery is. There are 52 properties are for sale in Anderson County. Asking prices range from about $20,000 to nearly $270,000. In the last six months, 14 properties sold, ranging in price from $15,600 to $220,000. Schulte Agency’s Carla Walter said sales picked up last month.
She said the selling prices are usually $75,000 to $80,000. Realtor Sherry Benjamin said a high number of foreclosures continues to be a problem for local real estate.
