OTTAWA – Ottawa University’s president has ordered cutbacks to help the university finish this year’s fiscal year ending June 30 in the black. The cutbacks will include unpaid furloughs of up to a week for most employees and a temporary freeze on OU’s payments into employee retirement programs. He also asked for employees to take voluntary pay cuts. Eichner said employees have been understanding about the cutbacks. OU lost $2.2 million last year but with the cuts should finish the fiscal year with $100,000 to spare, he said.
