OTTAWA — Kansas Rep. Bill Feuerborn said that when they return to Topeka in two weeks, the legislators will make even deeper cuts in what the state gives cities, counties and schools. State budget experts describe the state’s financial picture as dismal, he said. A panel of experts will meet Friday to look at state revenues and will likely say that the state will have $150 million less than legislators expected, he said. Deeper state cuts means local governments could have to raise their own property taxes, he said. The Franklin County Commission invited Feuerborn to their meeting last night.
