OTTAWA — The Franklin County Health Department and medical authorities are on alert for swine flu. County health director Midge Ransom said there haven’t been any cases identified in eastern Kansas. However, this wwine flu strain is new and hasn’t been seen in humans before, so health officials are being careful and preparing to deal with a local outbreak, she said. Ransom said you can take care of yourself by washing your hands often, cover your cough and sneeze and avoid touching your eyes, nose and upper face. Ransom also said if you’re sick, stay home.
