OTTAWA — A Colorado family says the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is re-examining the mysterious death of their son more than three years ago at Pomona Lake. Kevin Heidt met with KBI officials last week and he said an agent has been interviewing people in several states concerning the death of his son Derrick Heidt, who was found dead on the shore of a popular fishing area at Pomona Lake in February 2006. Heidt said he was always skeptical of the ruling that his son died accidentally. At the time of his death, Derrick Heidt was a student at Ottawa University. Heidt asks anyone who might have knowledge about Derrick’s death to call the KBI’s Mark Malick at (785) 296-7785 or the KBI’s central number at (785) 296-8200.
