OTTAWA — A Cottonwood Falls woman was taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday as a result of a one-vehicle accident on I-35 northeast of Ottawa. Vickie Thornton, 57, was injured when her husband Philip Thornton, 61, ran off the road. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Philip Thornton fell asleep, went into the center median, went back across the northbound lanes and struck a guard rail. He wasn’t injured. Her condition wasn’t immediately known but the Highway Patrol said her injuries didn’t appear to be major. Both were wearing safety restraints.
