OTTAWA — Because of the poor economy, Burlington Northern Santa Fe has postponed its plan to build a giant intermodal freight center near Gardner what could be another five years, said Tom Weigand, Ottawa-Franklin County Economic Development president. Ottawa’s Davis Road industrial park and some area industries may still benefit despite the delay, he said. The railroad has been negotiating with local industries for space to park heavy construction equipment until the project starts, he said.
