GARNETT — The Garnett Municipal Airport will soon get a new automated weather reporting system. The city commission recently accepted a bid from an electrical contractor to install the system. The airport board says the system which is called AWOS, will improve safety and provide faster reports of weather conditions at the airport for pilots flying to Garnett. The Federal Aviation Administration will pay for 95 percent of the nearly $111,000 cost.
