PAOLA — An effort to restore a historic hotel in Paola has won a $56,000 grant from the Kansas Historical Society. The grant will be used to repair the brick walls and for some interior work at the Jackson Hotel on Peoria Street in Paola.Richard Miller plans to turn the first floor into a restaurant and offices and restore the hotel rooms on the second floor.
The hotel was designed by Ottawa architect George Washburn and was built in 1921.
