OTTAWA – A public hearing on the future of Ottawa schools will be 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Ottawa Middle School commons. The Ottawa school board is looking at four options. Option 4 — Build a new elementary school at 19th and Eisenhower, add onto Garfield School. Eisenhower and Eugene Field would be closed and used for other purposes. Option 6 — Build a new elementary school at 19th and Eisenhower, renovate and expand Eugene Field School. Eisenhower School would be closed and used for other purposes. Option 7 — Expand Eisenhower School and renovate Eugene Field School. Option 8 — Addition at Garfield School and expand Eisenhower School. Eugene Field would be closed as school and used as the district office. All of the options include major improvements at the Ottawa High School and some renovations at Ottawa Middle School. The district’s architect will discuss the options and the public will get a chance to ask questions. The regular school board meeting will follow the public hearing.
