GARNETT — For those tailgate parties at Anderson County High School football games, add the barbeque sauce but hold the beer. The Garnett City Commission is looking at new limits on beer drinking at the football stadium during high school football games. Garnett police chief John Leinweber asked for stricter limits on drinking at football games. The current ordinance restricts alcohol consumption from city areas such as streets and alleys and within 100 feet of any city facility such as the swimming pool and softball and baseball fields. However, city manager Joyce Martin the football stadium isn’t included in that ordinance but hasn’t been an issue until this year. artin said the proposal could ban alcohol up to 300 feet around the stadium.
