GARNETT — Garnett city commissioners recently approved the paperwork for a new 12-inch water line connecting Cedar Creek Reservoir directly to the water treatment plant in Garnett. About $1.1 million in economic stimulus funds funnelled through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment will help pay for the project. Part of the money is a grant but $880,000 will be a low-interest loan. City manager Joyce Martin said bids will be solicited in the next 45 days. She said she hopes work begins by the first of next year.
