OTTAWA — The Franklin County Sheriff’s office has received economic stimulus money to put laptop computers in every county and Wellsville patrol car and connect them into a special Internet network with the Ottawa Police Cepartment. Sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Curry said the laptops will allow deputies stay out on patrol. The new system will allow officers to receive and send crime and other information without having to use the radio or drive back to the station in Ottawa, he said. The new system will save time and money and improve public safety, he said.
