GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba — The two-week training period for members of the Kansas Air National Guard’s 190th Air Refueling Wing took a turn for the real. Members of the Topeka-based unit had been deployed to Guantanamo Bay Jan. 4 to help with several construction projects. They’re now being sent to help the relief effort in earthquake-ravaged Haiti. The members include people with experience in construction, plumbing and electrical work, which will be handy to support on-site humanitarian assistance.
