OTTAWA — A Garnett manufacturer whose plant was damaged by a fire will move to Ottawa. Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce president Tom Weigand said Astro Manufacturing will buy a vacant facility in Ottawa’s Davis Road Industrial Park. Weigand told county commissioners this morning that Astro signed paperwork Friday to buy the old Kennel Aire plant, which should be finalized in 60 days. A fire destroyed most of the company’s manufacturing space in Garnett. Officials have said they must resume production of plastic pool equipment and truck toppers immediately and can’t wait to rebuild in Garnett. The company employs a little more than 60 people.
