OTTAWA — A kitchen fire caused about $20,000 in damage to an Ottawa home in the 100 block of South Elm Monday afternoon. Fire Chief Jeff Carner said someone was cooking when a fire started on the stove top and quickly spread to the kitchen. Everyone escaped without injury. Most of the damage happened in the kitchen and an adjacent room, with smoke damage throughout the home, he said.
