WASHINGTON — The severe storm system that ripped east central Kansas with high winds, lashing rains and hail has expanded and is now pounding an area stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to New England. ABC reports that the storms have caused at least two deaths in the South: One man died in Tennessee after he stepped on a downed power line and another man died in Mississippi after he ran into a tree that blocked the road because the rain was falling so hard he couldn’t see. The monster storm line threatens the east coast from Washington to Maine this afternoon and tonight.
