PAOLA — Paola gave a rousing welcome for Kansas National Guard member James Dones, who returned from a year-long deployment in Africa. Dones got a ride in a limo while being escorted by about 20 members of the Legion Riders on their motorcycles and a Paola Police Department vehicle with sirens blaring. The Miami County Republic reported Dones met a group of about 30 friends and family members at the Paola American Legion post. He also got to meet his grandddaughter for the first time.
