OTTAWA — Donations and a $2,500 match from Peoples Banks raised nearly $6,500 in support of victims of the recent disasters in Japan. Peoples president Wint Winter, Jr., said the Peoples fundraisers in which the bank matches the proceeds have proved popular. An elementary school in Lecompton turned the fundraiser into a “penny war” competition and raised more than $800.
