OTTAWA –- At Wednesday night’s meeting, the Ottawa City Commission continued the latest of a series of rezonings in areas immediately surrounding the city. The properties rezoned last night were on the eastern edge of the city. Under the terms of an agreement with the county, the city has been rezoning an area called the “urban growth area” immediately outside the city limits to city zoning categories. The process is rezoning, not annexation, city manager Richard Nienstedt said. Assistant city planning director Tom Yahl said the process should be complete by the end of the year.
