OTTAWA- Garnett city commissioners have given the go ahead for the construction of the new elementary school project. Commissioners voted 2-1 and bids are already being received from local and regional contractors. Located off of 59 Highway, the public opposed that this location would take over prime retail property. With the vote weighing in favor of the project, the district hopes to have the new elementary school complete by August of 2012.
