OTTAWA — Life in Franklin County imitates art. When she discussed her budget for next year during Tuesday’s county budget sessions, County Attorney Heather Jones said she budgeted more for expert witnesses for trials next year. Because more jurors are watching more television shows featuring medical examiners, they’re expected to hear expert witnesses. Jones said in one case, she used $8,000 from her $13,000 expert witness fund for an expert witness to testify. She said the witness’s testimony probably won the case for her, so she said the cost is worth it. Despite the extra cost, Jones is proposing a decrease in her office’s budget for next year.
