GARNETT — Hundreds of bicyclists will roll into Garnett beginning Friday afternoon. Garnett is the final overnight stop for the Bike Across Kansas tour. About 800 riders, plus support crews and families, will stop in Garnett in honor of the city’s 150th anniversary. The Anderson County Review reported that 13 local people are taking part in the annual bike ride from the west edge of the state to the east side. Bike Across Kansas offers a great opportunity for Garnett to show itself off to visitors, said Dave Branton, one of the local organizers. The community has planned a series of tours, entertainment including the Garnett Area Community Band, and food for visitors. The Garnett farmers market will have a special day Friday afternoon and evening and other sites such as the Anderson County Museum, the Santa Fe Depot, the Thelma Moore Community Playhouse, the Harris House, the Walker Art Museum and the Kirk House will have special events for the bicycling group.
