FRANKLIN COUNTY- While rumors spread that Extreme Makeover Home Edition might be coming to Franklin County, the Franklin County planning and Building Department had a lot of work to in preparing for the word around town. Franklin County Planning and Building Director Larry Walrod said preparing for the build required the same amount of work any other project would, and just because it’s a TV show, it doesn’t get any special treatment.
“Frankly, we wouldn’t treat this home any differently than we would any other set of plans that came into the county,” Walrod said.
The fast-paced schedule the TV show maintains has made it difficult for the county as it only has one building inspector.
“It has put a real strain because we just about had to have someone there 24-hours a day because of the amount of different construction that’s occurring simultaneously,” said Walrod.
The County has had to use the help of a retired city inspector, and the city of Ottawa also offered its two inspectors for help.
