OTTAWA — After this summer’s Extreme Makeover by ABC TV comes the extreme makeover of the road leading to the building site southwest of Ottawa. County public works director Jim Haag said that a little more than four miles of the north lane of Old Highway 50 needs some emergency reconstruction because of the high temperatures and heavy truck traffic going to the site. Haag said since the commission approved the deal and waived the normal bidding process, Killough Construction would apply thin layer of asphalt of “leveling,” which will be covered by chip-and-seal pavement by Vance Brothers, which agreed to charge the county the same rate as it did for the summer’s maintenance work.
