OTTAWA — Jerry Thompson and Sonny Burch have jointly given $100,000 to the proposed Ottawa YMCA. They are the former owners and operators of Loyd Builders. Thompson said that Ottawa and Franklin County provided schools, facilities, parks and the Ottawa Municipal Auditorium for his family and he felt he wanted to do something for the future of Ottawa, too. The Y will make ottawa better and improve the quality of life for future generations, he said. Burch said programs that the Y develops will add tremendous value to the community and something to be proud of. He said he likes that the community and Ottawa University are working together for the Y. The new Y will be built on Ottawa University land at the southeast corner of 11th and Mulberry.
