GARNETT — Two Anderson County department heads have just resigned within a short time of each other – just a little more than one year after they were hired. County engineer Paul Moss has followed county appraiser Mike Durdee in resigning within two weeks. The county is seeking to fill the appraiser’s post. County Clerk Phyllis Gettler said state law requires the county to have an appraiser. Deputy appraiser Jay Velvick is filling the vacancy but he has said he doesn’t wish to be the appraiser. However, the Anderson County Review reported commissioners are discussing whether to hire another engineer.
