OTTAWA — The Ottawa YMCA announced today it has received a $100,000 donation from an anonymous donor. The donation marks the fifth major gift announced toward building a new Y. Prior gifts include a $1 million donation from Marguerite Gibson. Ottawa Community Partnership president John Coen said the donor in this case wanted to remain anonymous. The donor has a significant interest in making sure the youth of this community have access to programs like those offered by the YMCA, Coen said. The donor made the gift for children who don’t have access to good values education and opportunities for positive interaction with strong adult role models, Coen said. He says the donor has seen the programs of the Y and is convinced a YMCA in Ottawa will improve the lives of hundreds of young people.
