OTTAWA — Two Ottawa High School students won first in one of the competitions at the Science Olympiad Invitational at Excelsior Spring, Mo., Friday. The team of Rachel Pierce and Shawn Turner took home gold medals in the “Write it, Do it,” category. The team of Turner, Pierce, Jennifer Boyce and Tyler Rea won eighth in “Gravity Vehicle” and ninth place in “Anatomy & Physiology” and in “Fermi Questions.” Ottawa’s Science Olympiad team next competes Jan. 7 at Oak Park High School in Kansas City and Jan.14 at St. James Academy in Lenexa.
